I was disappointed with the end. There were a lot of thing I expected to get wrapped up that weren’t. POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOLLOW: We get his back story, but never get an actual explanation for why SHE puts him in a perpetual bad mood. We are left to guess. And then, after all the heartbreak, by he never apologizes or shows any real remorse. He seems to think his forceful, belated ‘I love you’ covers ALL his sins, and, of course, it does. And we never even get confirmation she will get to bake him a birthday cake in the future which would have been a hugely symbolic gesture showing he had put his past behind him. That particular instance was such a big piece of the plot that it should have been given resolution. One sentence would have done it. “Will you bake me a birthday cake next year?” But instead they talk about biscuits and apple butter.
